Mehek Cooke

Mehek Cooke is the principal of I-71 Consulting, LLC. In this role she provides government affairs, legal counsel and strategic consulting services for clients including businesses, entrepreneurs, non-profits and candidates running for local, state and judicial office.
Mehek most recently served as the Chief of Staff to the Lieutenant Governor and Deployment Director and Legal Adviser for Governor Kasich’s 2016 presidential bid. Mehek was also Chief Counsel for the Ohio Department of Agriculture and Assistant Chief Legal Counsel for the Office of Governor Kasich. Prior to her public service in Ohio, she was as an attorney in the Government Services Department at Barnes & Thornburg LLP.
A Columbus native, Mehek is a Political Science graduate from the Ohio State University. She received a master’s degree in State and Local Politics from the Indiana University-Purdue University and a juris doctorate from Indiana University Maurer School of Law.
Mehek’s state and local experience has been shaped by other federal and internal roles which include Procurement Specialist for the Political Military Affairs Regional Arms Division at the U.S. State Department; Terrorism Analyst for Chief Judge Richard Magnus of Singapore and Asset Forfeiture and Counter-Terrorism Specialist for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Columbus, Ohio.
